The second rule is not to show personal documents or identification. Carlos emphasized that ICE has no right to demand a person’s identification, as they are not law enforcement agents. If the agents claim to have an arrest warrant, the immigrant has the right to ask to see the warrant. If the immigrant’s name appears on the warrant, then it must be surrendered.

The third rule is not to open the door of the house without a warrant. If ICE agents show up at the door of a home, the immigrant has the right not let the agents in if they do not present a warrant. If they insist on entering, the immigrant can ask to have the warrant slid under the door and verify that it is signed by a judge. If the warrant is not signed by a judge, the agents cannot enter.
Carlos advised that, if the warrant is signed by a judge, immigrants should comply with it, as this validates the agents’ entry into the home. However, if the order does not have a judge’s signature, the immigrant can refuse to open the door or allow the agents access.
